Professor Jeff Halper is an Israeli Jew and the Director of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD). Jeff was on the first of the Free Gaza boats that broke the siege of Gaza. He was jailed for this when he returned home to Israel and is currently out on bail. He has been awarded Palestinian citizenship and has won various honors including the Kant-World-Citizen-Prize for 2009 and the Rachel Corrie Peace Award and was a 2006 nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Interview with Adam Shapiro and IMC-Palestine. CKUT Radio spoke with Adam after he successfully negotiated an ambulance into President Arafat’s compound. He was the only international non-Palestinian in the compound. A US citizen with the International Solidarity Movement, which brings together Palestinians & Internationals, Adam spent Friday being a “human shield” for ambulances attempting to get past Israeli soldiers.

Hundreds of thousands of stateless Palestinian refugees reside in Lebanon scattered in impoverished refugee camps throughout the country, originally displaced through the creation of the state of Israel in 1948. Without the right to work in over 70 professions, barred from owning property and legally defined as foreigners, Palestinians live in Lebanon as second-class citizens without basic social or political rights.
